Drug Rehabilitation Information and Articles

Drug Rehabilitation often referred to as drug rehab or rehab is a term that is used to describe the process of addiction treatment from a dependency of an addiction of a drug or substance. The process treats the physical and the mental dependency of a substance such as alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, and "street drugs" such as cocaine, heroin, or amphetamines.

Drug rehabilitation treats the physical and psychological aspects of the addiction. Detoxification or drug detox is the process that copes with the withdrawal symptoms resulting from the physical addiction. The Detoxification is followed by a behavioral treatment to help the addict learn to deal with life without the aid of drugs or alcohol.

The Drug Rehabilitation process can be demanding physically and emotionally. Many drug rehabilitation programs also offer after care programs that assist the addict back into "regular" life. Many of these programs help the addict to cope and deal with family and friends and any issues and problems that resulted from the addiction.
